This week had been great! Jim is a really cool person. He took me out camping last weekend. We sat by the bonfire and played guitar. It was so much fun. We actually ended up sleeping by the fire.. School is getting a bit demanding, but Jim helps me through it. I'm really doing my best and trying to catch up. Learning math in America is actually fun. I'm getting really good at it! People have started to notice me, and I've already got a few friends. Oh, I really love my time here.

- When you write: "This week had been great" - the reader expects a "but then..." --> Use "has" instead.
I can see that you´re in control, so try to challenge yourself a bit more - take some chances (in order to improve your language even more), and try to construct even longer sentences.
